De'Sean Butler portrait session

Just did a portrait session with De'Sean Butler of the San Antonio Spurs with another shooter. Here are a few of my favorites. As always, accepting portrait and commercial photo opportunities!

Ohio State situation

Thought I'd post a few photos of the punk of the week, Terrelle Pryor, and also a shot of one of my photos that was selected for the cover of former Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel's book.

I finally got around to reading the Sports Illustrated article about Tressel and the Ohio State football program. What a mess! If all the allegations are true, things were way out of hand in Columbus, Ohio, and it might be quite some time before all is repaired there.

But in all honesty, I would be willing to bet that all of the top college football programs have some sort of violation(s) going on, many possibly worse than what has been purported to have happened in the Buckeye state.

It's unreal how pampered athletes are, and also how much of a premium is being put on winning football games at our universities. It's truly a shame because I'm sure the amount of money being put into the football programs at schools takes its toll on the other sports programs.

Either way, it's unfortunate and I don't put ALL the blame at the doorstep of Tressel. Sure, he's the head coach and he runs the football program, but he can't babysit these athletes 24 hours a day. Yes, he should have reported the violations when he found out about them. But to lay all the blame on him is just wrong.

We'll have to see how this all plays out, but I know one thing. Shooting a football game on a fall Saturday afternoon in Columbus, Ohio won't be the same for a long, long time.

Reds Win the Pennant!!!!

After 15 years the Cincinnati Reds are finally returning to the Major League Baseball postseason. The Reds clinched the NL Central Division on Tuesday night with a 3-2 win over the Houston Astros. I was covering the game and got a nice shot of Jay Bruce's walk-off home run in the bottom of the 9th inning and the ensuing celebration. Thank goodness no TV cameramen got in the way!

Blog? What's a Blog?!

Well, no updates to this Blog is lord knows how long. Have been quite busy shooting baseball and, of late, recovering from another eye surgery at the hands of an evil tennis ball. Vision now 20/30 in the eye and should make a full recovery so I thank God for that. So just a couple shots from the NFL opener in Nashville this past weekend as Chris Johnson raced 76 yards in front of my lens! Thanks for looking and feel free to comment!

NCAA Cross Country

Been a while since I updated as I've been very busy of late. Just shot the NCAA Cross Country championships in Terre Haute, so thought I'd post a few images.

I never enjoyed running too much. I used to have to run a lot when I played basketball in school, and it wasn't much fun. I remember the long distance running we used to do in the summer conditioning program and how myself and a couple other lazy teammates used to duck into the cornfield and wait for everyone to pass so we wouldn't have to run the entire course. Seems like it was about a four mile run, and we probably ran less than a mile!

Are you ready for some football?

Football season is underway! I've been shooting a lot early on and have been swamped.

Thought I'd get a few pictures up since it might be a while before I update the blog again.

I have a little bit of college and also NFL as the season kicked off in Pittsburgh with Tim McGraw and the Black Eye Peas, followed by the return of Brett Favre (again) in purple.

Sneak peek at a few of my favorites from 2010 Austin HS senior Amanda Reardon's session.

I'll hopefully have the rest of the images online in a week or two for the Reardon family to view. Stay tuned!

Wild Weekend

A very wild and exhausting weekend as I shot five events in a span of 48 hours or so.

First up was the Colts preseason opener, followed by the Lions opener and the Tigers hosting the Royals in Detroit. The Lions game had fewer fans than the Tigers did.

Finally on Sunday, a sparse crowd watched the Reds host the Nats in Cincinnati, then I shot the women's finals in the ATP tennis event in Cincinnati.

I'm going to sleep.
