Ho-Hum, preseason NFL

As I said, been shooting boring preseason NFL games. Did three back-to-back-to-back games last weekend in Nashville, Atlanta and finally Cincinnati. As you can see from the first photo, I was pretty worn out even before the game on the sidelines in Atlanta as I'm taking a quick cat-nap. Thanks to Sports Illustrated shooter David Bergman for that classic shot.

I did manage an nice sequence the next night in Cincinnati of Chad Johnson getting mugged on a pass play.

Well, only one more week and it's time for the regular season!

Tyler senior photos

Wow, a long time in between updates! I've been shooting (boring) preseason NFL football and doing a LOT of editing.

Did a cool shoot with a local senior named Tyler the other day. Tyler and his dad were great and I enjoyed the few hours we spent together. Tyler did a great job posing and I think his session is looking really awesome. Hang in there guys, I'm still working on the images but I think you're going to love 'em when they're done.

NASCAR in Joliet

Ahhh (or ugh?), NASCAR!

Covered the NASCAR Sprint Cup series in Joliet, Illinois over the weekend and it was actually a pretty decent race. I had a few nice pictures and the finish was exciting, though qualifying was washed out by a wicked thunderstorm.

Now I'm not saying I miss shooting NASCAR though. I used to cover about a dozen or so races a year which equaled out to about a third of the season. I am now down to covering two or three races a year.

I have to say I don't really miss shooting it, however there are things about the sport that grab my attention. The fans, for one. They are pretty much true fanatics. A lot of them would probably die for their favorite driver, although that driver in all honesty probably couldn't care less about his fans and that's kind of a shame. That's one of the reasons I'm kind of "turned off" by the sport thesedays.

Don't get me wrong, I think the loyalty some fans show to the drivers is kind of scary, but I just think the drivers could be a bit more appreciative than they are.

Anyway, here are a few pics to take a gander at that caught my eye. I will post an update in the Recent Work section of my website as well when I get a chance.

Family pics for 4th of July

Shot a few pics of the family as we celebrated 4th of July at home. After surviving lighting fireworks the night of the 4th I figured I might as well make some pics today!

We have shots of my mom with the kids, my wife (she's not flipping me off...at least I don't think!), my oldest daughter Kristen (who takes the best pics of anyone in the family) and our dog Bella.

Now off to Chicago on Sunday for A's at White Sox.

Greg Oden Sweat Spot for ESPN Magazine

A few selects from a recent shoot for ESPN Magazine. NBA player and former Ohio State Buckeye Greg Oden (who hasn't played a minute in the NBA yet) was rehabbing a knee injury in Indy and I followed him around during a workout with his trainer. One photo finally ran in the new issue of the mag, and I had a pretty decent batch of selects despite a very dimly lit gym. With the help of an assistant I brought in a few White Lightning strobe units to bounce around the gym and actually made it look pretty natural. Be sure to check out my Recent Work for a look at a few more shots at www.robbinsphoto.net on a computer near you!

Sun sets on Pittsburgh

Shooting two games in Pittsburgh this weekend, and tonight's game was delayed by a severe T-storm just before first pitch. Rain stuck around but they got the game in, though I didn't stay to the end. I did end up with a couple of nice shots of the sun setting on the Pittsburgh skyline and also a hint of a rainbow that also formed.

Sunday afternoon at home

No traveling this weekend, spent a nice Sunday at home with my family. Went to church and then shot some neat portraits of the kids.

Site still not live, should be up this week however. I'm pretty excited about it, especially the fact that it will be SO easy to update, change, rearrange, etc.

Hope you enjoy!

Vacation

Well, my new site and blog aren't live yet but thought I'd test it out and try to post a new article.

My family and I are on vacation in Myrtle Beach, SC at the moment, so I'm thinking I'll have a little spare time to hopefully get the new site/blog Live by week's end.

Going to try to make some nice portraits of the kids while here. Light is beautiful but it's a little hot and steamy. I'm also going to get in a round or two of golf this week, though I haven't played since last year. If I shoot in the 80s I'll be the happiest guy in the world.

Planning to play one of my favorite courses, Caledonia Golf and Fish Club. It's a beautiful place and I plan to make a few pictures too if I get a nice day.

Gotta roll for now!

Blog Is Up!

My new blog is up, but to say I'm a novice blogger is an understatement. Give me some time and you'll see fairly regular updates, so check back soon.
